LDK Promises Employment for Graduates Amid Political Crisis
The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) has pledged job guarantees for all recent graduates as part of its campaign leading up to the early elections scheduled for December 28. During a rally in Gjakova, LDK leader and prime ministerial candidate Lumir Abdixhiku announced that graduates will be assured employment for at least six months with a salary of €500.
Abdixhiku criticized the current government for leading the country into crisis and creating a divisive atmosphere. He emphasized the need for collaboration and dialogue, stating that the current mindset of power disregards compromise and prioritizes personal interests over national unity.
Furthermore, Abdixhiku made several other commitments if elected. He promised to increase teacher salaries to €1,000 and highlighted plans for a new central hospital with an investment of around €500 million. He also proposed salary hikes for other sectors: nurses would receive €975, while police, soldiers, and firefighters would earn €900. Additionally, he vowed to double pensions over three years, aiming to raise them to €300 by the end of this period, acknowledging the contributions of pensioners to Kosovo’s development.
Abdixhiku portrayed LDK’s vision for the next four years as hopeful and responsible, claiming that the party has been instrumental in building the state during challenging times. LDK aims to focus on citizens, promising stability, normalcy, and rule of law, rather than miraculous solutions.
Referring specifically to Gjakova, Abdixhiku highlighted the city’s historical resilience during difficult periods, including during occupation and war. He stressed the need for a strong and responsible state, recognizing Gjakova’s unique experiences and the heightened demand for effective governance.
The LDK leader transitioned from Gjakova to an electoral assembly in Malishevë, where he reiterated the importance of moral responsibility and the call for renewal and hope within the community’s political discourse. His statements aim to resonate with voters by emphasizing historical context and addressing the pressing issues currently faced by Kosovo.
In summary, the LDK’s campaign is centered on employment promises, increased salaries, and a commitment to unity and effective governance, amidst a background of political instability in Kosovo.
